BMW Releases More Details Surrounding the 6 Series Gran Coupe
BMW has found success with its 6 Series Convertible and Coupe for quite some time now. So much so, in fact, that the German automaker has decided to add on another 6 Series variant: the Gran Coupe. Created with the same luxury class style as its siblings, the 2013 6 Series Gran Coupe will come in the form of a four-door sedan.
For the past few months, BMW has been leaking information regarding the new model at a slow but steady pace. While Autohaus BMW is eager to gather as many juicy details as possible, we understand that the automaker must build a healthy dose of anticipation. Anticipation for what? We're glad you asked. The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe will make its premier global appearance at the New York International Auto Show in April.
Now that might seem like two months too long to wait but like we said, BMW has been releasing teaser details. The latest bit: pricing. Consumers can expect to see the base level Gran Coupe come in at around $76,000 while the upper-level 650i and 650i xDrive will rise slightly from there. As for power, BMW engineers have equipped the 640i with a 315-hp, twin-turbocharged, 3.0L six-cylinder engine. 6 Series drivers with a 650i or above will derive a highly generous 445-hp from a 4.4L V8.
Regardless of your trim choice, Gran Coupe owners will be able to take full advantage of the BMW EfficientDynamics system which calls on start-stop technology and regenerative breaking. At this point in time we can't tell the exact fuel-economy outcome of this system but judging by current 6 Series models, we have a feeling it's going to be good.
