For generations the BMW 3 Series has been the mid-sized sedan to beat. The 2011 model delivers between 230 horsepower (hp) and 320 (hp) and starts between $37,650 MSRP, depending on specific model and trim. However, for all those speed enthusiasts we at Autohaus BMW are pleased to announce that BMW is planning to offer 335i drivers even more power in the form of an all-new performance package.
The performance package will deliver 20 hp over its standard 300 hp and an additional 17 lb.-ft. of torque for a total of 317. This is almost equivalent to the power available in the 335is, which is roughly seven thousand dollars more than the 335i. The BMW Performance Edition is priced at only $550!
Where does the extra power come from? Interestingly, not from additional hardware. The package simply involves BMW modifying the engine-tuning software. This means that while the BMW 335i Performance Edition offers a faster sprint time, it does not produce any more emissions.
The big story surrounding the new BMW 3 Series Performance Edition is, of course, the power. The package does, however, also include a black kidney grill and exclusive badging. The BMW 3 Series Performance Edition will be available on a limited basis and only through the end of the year. Autohaus would also like to note that BMW will also be offering the package to existing 335i and 135i drivers. We expect them to announce the retrofitting prices for these two models in August.
