Already a fan of BMW efficiency and best-in-class performance? If so, then you'll love what the crafty automaker has in store. Moving into a unique market, BMW will release the C600 and C650GT Maxi-Scooter models.
On display at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California, the scooters pleased viewers with all the classic BMW style shaped into a slightly smaller form. Company officials say the mini modes of transportation take hints from the older BMW R1200RT and K1600GT touring bikes. For those who need fuel-efficient transportation to get from Point A to relatively close Point B, the new BMW scooter options are perfect. Each produces an estimated 60-horsepower from a fuel-injected, water-cooled, two-cylinder 647-cc motor. While exact fuel-economy estimates aren't yet available, you can be your last dollar that they'll be impressive.
Until now, the scooter market has largely gained hold in Europe and Asia without entering the American consumer audience. However, that will soon change. With high fuel costs and relatively weak economy, a more efficient way to get around is looking better and better...especially when it has the BMW name attached. In fact, those in the Saint Louis area just might see the C600 and C650GT BMW scooters popping up around town as early as next year.
