Step on to the lot of Autohaus BMW at 3015 S. Hanley Rd Saint Louis, MO 63143-3613 around the end of 2012 and you just might find an innovative little SUV sitting next to our current new BMW lineup. Known as the "BMW X1," this fresh model is making its United States debut at the 2012 New York International Auto Show before moving to production for 2013.

Now, take note, Autohaus BMW did say "United States debut." That's because the pint-sized utility vehicle has already circulated the European market for a few years. Why are we getting the BMW X1 just now? It sure isn't for a lack of success. In fact, quite the opposite is true. The X1 never came to America because skyrocketing demand in Europe took up all of the model's production.

Of course, the circumstances have recently changed and BMW is finally able to supply U.S. consumers with this new BMW model. Equipped with all the latest BMW technology, the X1 is a fine offering for those who need a heavy dose of features in a relatively light vehicle. Measuring 14.5 feet in length, the BMW X1 will run off of a 2-liter four-cylinder complete with direct injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger. Thanks to its compact build, the X1 will also boast a sprint time of zero-to-62 miles per hour in less than 6.3 seconds.
