Most often, high-profile awards ceremonies are equated with the entertainment industry. After all, shows like the Grammys, the Oscars, and the Emmys are broadcasted on national television and watched by a diverse audience across the nation. While we at Autohaus BMW certainly enjoy our fair share of music and movies, we're more inclined to tune in to the auto industry's Oscar-equivalent: the International Engine of the Year awards.
Every year, the automotive sector sees the best-of-the-best automakers honored for their excellence in powertrain development. For 2012, one third of that group belongs to BMW. Out of the 12 awards bestowed upon engines in this year's competition, four of them were given to our favorite auto brand.
Eager to know which drivetrains in particular were doused with honor and glory? It just so happens that Autohaus BMW is eager to share. Starting with the 1.4- to 1.8-liter category, BMW took home a top prize for its 181-hp, 1.6-liter. Moving on up the displacement scale, the 241-hp BMW 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder nabbed the number one spot in the 1.8- to 2.0-liter category. Top honors for the 2.5- to 3.0-liter class went to the BMW bi-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder. And finally, the automaker scored first place in the 3.0- to 4.0-liter class with its remarkable 414-hp, 4.0-liter V8.
As thrilled as we at Autohaus BMW are to see BMW gain such international recognition, we aren't too surprised. That's because each new BMW vehicle on our lot at 3015 S. Hanley Rd Saint Louis, MO 63143-3613 delivers the level of performance one would expect from an award-winning drivetrain and we've had the pleasure of experiencing it. To get a feel for the automaker's powertrain prowess, feel free to stop by anytime.
