Not only can the BMW navigation system plot economic travel routes using traffic information and speed limits, but the technology incorporates altitude, final destination, and other real-time data to ensure that you're getting the most out of your hybrid power.
Beyond the navigation system's current functions, BMW is also mulling over the idea of integrating a technology that would allow the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 to learn your driving behavior. For example, if you drive the same route to work every day, your vehicle would detect the pattern and automatically alter the powertrain without you even needing to turn the hybrid navigation system on.
At this point in time, Autohaus BMW can't say for sure how the aforementioned technology will take form. Engineers still have a bit more time to work through the kinks before the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 goes on sale this fall.
