Ever since BMW announced it would be releasing a hybrid version of the popular BMW 3 Series, enthusiasts and media hounds have swarmed around model details like bees to honey. However, Autohaus BMW has noticed that despite all the attention it has received, one unique feature of the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 has remained largely in the shadows: navigation.

Now, we know what you might be thinking. What's so unique about navigation? Our answer for that question would have to be, everything. The fact that the navigation will debut on the first hybrid version of the automaker's flagship model is cause enough to generate a bit of buzz. But what makes the ActiveHybrid 3 model's system different would be its ability to adapt to the needs of hybrid drivers.

Not only can the BMW navigation system plot economic travel routes using traffic information and speed limits, but the technology incorporates altitude, final destination, and other real-time data to ensure that you're getting the most out of your hybrid power.

Beyond the navigation system's current functions, BMW is also mulling over the idea of integrating a technology that would allow the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 to learn your driving behavior. For example, if you drive the same route to work every day, your vehicle would detect the pattern and automatically alter the powertrain without you even needing to turn the hybrid navigation system on.

At this point in time, Autohaus BMW can't say for sure how the aforementioned technology will take form. Engineers still have a bit more time to work through the kinks before the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 goes on sale this fall. In the meantime, we invite you to keep checking our blog for updates or stop by 3015 S. Hanley Rd St. Louis, MO 63143-3613 to learn about the forthcoming hybrid and any new BMW model.
