Some things get better with age whereas some retain their looks for generations with no obvious changes. And, while the former example may explain a lot of the models in the new BMW lineup, the latter aptly describes one in particular: the iconic BMW X5.

That's because, ever since it arrived on the scene, in 1999, the X5 has seen minimal changes to its design. You know what they say, "if it isn't broken, don't fix it."

And, because this adage still applies to the X5, we at Autohaus BMW weren't all too surprised when we caught a glimpse of recent spy shots of the 2014 BMW X5 and realized none of the changes were any two drastic; wouldn't want to compromise the winning recipe, of course.

So, we bet you're wondering what has changed then. Here's a quick list that we've comprised for you to take a look at:

  • The side profile, while largely unchanged, is slightly boxier in the rear.
  • The rising sidebody crease is sharper and angled slightly downward.
  • The front-end grille is more blunt, with headlamps that streamline right into the kidney grille.

We're also particularly excited to see brand-new L-shaped taillights and a dual exhaust.

OK, let's be serious - we're pretty exciting about the entire exterior and of course the interior and underpinnings when the information is finally released.

And, if you're looking for a fun, new BMW model in the meantime,  we encourage you to visit Autohaus BMW Saint Louis area showroom (3015 S. Hanley Rd Saint Louis, MO 63143-3613), any time.
